In the UK, they have already begun to mint coins with the image of King Charles III, and if you look at them, you can understand which coins will soon come into circulation in Canada.

The Royal Mint, which produces coins for the United Kingdom, announced last Friday that it has already begun issuing 9.6 million coins featuring the new monarch. The new 50 pence coin will go into circulation in December this year.

“For many people, this will be the first time in their lives that they will see the image of a new monarch on money,” said Kevin Clancy, director of the Royal Mint Museum.

The official portrait of King Charles embossed on the coin was designed by renowned British artist Martin Jennings.

Since Canada is a Commonwealth country, the new coins will come into circulation on its territory. Back in September, the Royal Canadian Mint announced that the new monarch does not require a universal replacement of “coins already in circulation.”
